A General Meeting of the Chesapeake Democratic Committee (CDC) was called to order by Chair Randy Menefee on February 15, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., at the River Crescent Community Center.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Dr. William Ward moved, and seconded by Council Member Ella Ward, to approve the minutes from the General Body Meeting of January 27, 2018. The minutes were approved as presented by unanimous consent.
DISCUSSION OF BYLAWS
The committee postponed the discussion of the bylaws at the March 8, 2018 meeting.
Mr. Horan reported the budget had not been developed. He presented the balance, deposits, and no expenditures for the last month. The Treasurer’s Report approved. (For specific details, please contact The Chair or the Treasurer directly or come to the General Meeting.)
Chair Menefee announced the appointment of two position:
Yvonne Stuart, Parliamentarian
Robert Stuart, Chief Information Officer.
- Chair Menefee acknowledged the new logo and website designed, created, and developed by Rob Stuart.
Members were encouraged to sign up for the proposed Standing Committees: Social Media; Outreach, Finance, Precincts & Burroughs; Media & Public Relations; Membership; and Ad Hoc Committee Suggestions.
Linda Bryant, Sergeant at Arms introduced Ryan Jackson, a staff member for Congressman Bobby Scott. Mr. Jackson encouraged the group to sign petitions on behalf of Senator Kaine and Congressman Scott. Chair Menefee offered candidates running for Chesapeake City Council an opportunity to introduce themselves to the committee. The candidates who spoke were Council Member Ella Ward, Council Member Dwight Parker, Mr. Lessie Smith, and Mr. Gene Waters.
Dr. William Ward encouraged the committee to seek additional candidates to fill the Democratic ticket.
Tracy Holland, CDW announced their Joint Meet & Greet event that will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. “The purpose of the event is to provide candidates an opportunity to discuss their platform…”
Chair Menefee adjourned the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
