CDC Saturday Breakfast - September

The guest speaker will be Brian Cannon, Executive Director of OneVirginia2021

He will be addressing issues concerning redistricting after the 2020 census.

Virginia is ranked as one of the worst gerrymandered states in the country, on both the congressional and the state level, based on lack of compactness and contiguity of its districts.

After the 2020 census, Virginia state legislators will redraw district lines for the U.S. Congress, the Virginia House of Delegates and the Senate of Virginia. Under the current system, the party in power in Virginia’s House and Senate can draw the lines to serve their own interests, not those of our communities.

OneVirginia2021 is a leader in advocating for fair redistricting in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Organizing at local, regional, and statewide levels, OneVirginia2021 partners with individuals and organizations to raise awareness, provide information, and work with legislators to implement meaningful reform.

Kick Off for Combined Campaign for Senator Kaine and Congressman McEachin Hosted by the CDC

The CDC is hosting the Kickoff for the Combined Campaign in Chesapeake. Bring your favorite dish for this potluck event and meet our own US Senator Tim Kaine and our VA Fourth District US Congressman Donald McEachin. Both are seeking re-election in November.

We are still buzzing from our local elections, and we want you to attend, no matter when you will be fully committing to the campaign. Let's bring our enthusiasm to let our representatives know we will be there for them when the real work begins, after the Primaries in our surrounding areas.

Our South Regional Field Director, Ivana Hall and our Organizer for Chesapeake/Portsmouth, Portsmouth native Nadarius Clark will also be in attendance. Find out about canvas and phone bank plans for our city.

Bring your dish to share and serving utensils.

Please RSVP to the Event through the Link:

Local Contact is Cathy Bohan, email at or call/text 757-675-8258.
